Introduction

          Kamta Prasad Sunder Lal Post-Graduate College, Ayodhya was set up by the three well known social thinkers and visionaries Acharya Narendra Dev, Baba Raghav Das and Pandit Parmeshwar Nath Sapru on 25th July 1951, with a view to imparting higher education to the youth of the backward region of eastern Uttar Pradesh. This is located in between the twin cities of Ayodhya and Faizabad on the National highway No 28 at a distance of three kilometers from Faizabad which is about 130 kilometers east of Lucknow and 160 kilometers north of Allahabad and in the west of Varanasi and 140 kilometers west of Gorakhpur. This is the sacred birthplace of our Lord Ram. With the initiative and contribution of many others who joined them in this noble cause during the last over fifty years, the college now enjoys its reputation as a premier educational institution with an impressive campus spread over a sprawling area of about of sixteen acres. It is a non-government college run by an experienced Managing Committee trying to translate the objectives of its founders to provide diversified educational opportunities laced with value based education to its students.

             The college is permanently affiliated to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Faizabad and is included in the list of colleges maintained by the University Grants Commission under sections 2(f) and 12 B of its Act of 1956, since September 1973 and it receives from the UGC its due developmental and other assistance for its plans and projects. It also receives regular grant-in-aid from Government of Uttar Pradesh as per its rules and procedures notified and applicable from time to time.
